If you’re sure System Restore is turned on, but it’s still not working properly, try the following. I had the Perfect Defender virus, ran a bunch of malware anti-virus apps to (hopefully) get rid of it. Unfortunately I didn't afterwards get to speak with the man that did the work, so I still don't know what actually caused the trouble.
